Shannon Elizabeth's Outburst At The Australian Poker Event

Sep 4th 2007

After apparently having a crude discussion with organizers of a poker tournament and deliberately busting out of a celebrity event after one hand, the American Pie starlet and PokerStars.com pro, Shannon Elizabeth has earning herself some bad press Down Under.

According to reports from the Herald Sun, Australia's top-selling newspaper, after Elizabeth arrived at the Crown Casino in Melbourne for the Victorian Poker Championship held in August the actress got flustered with tournament representatives when they informed her she is expected to talk to the media and mingle with other celebrities at the event. Elizabeth said she was expecting to pose for a few photographs before attending the event, but she had no clue there would be more required of her.

Also participating in the tournament was the 2005 World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem and Australian notables Nathan Buckley, Sam Mitchell and Campbell Brown. After the tournament began, the actress made it clear her interests were elsewhere after she was dealt the first hand, pushed all-in and busted from the tournament after her cards didn't make the grade

The same paper reports that after busting out the tournament she left the room to play in a more rewarding game somewhere else in the casino. Later she came back to the event to catch up with some friends and she was seen next to Emad Tahtouh, an Australian poker pro. It is said that Elizabeth and the poker pro have also connected in the past, while attending the Aussie Millions in January.

The gossip about the fluttered actress also continues, when earlier in the week, she was denied entry to an Australian casino to play in the Victorian Poker Championship event, after forgetting her identification. Despite the fact she told the security guard her name and that she’s 33 years old, the guard refused to let her in until she showed the necessary ID.

However, even her poker accomplishments up until now seem to be as skimpy as her acting credentials, Elizabeth holds little promise in the poker world after finishing third in the NBC heads-up tournament in March for $125,000 cash.
