David "Chip" Reese's fame comes from being one of the best Seven Card Stud players in the world, but also from his contribution to Doyle Brunson's "Super System".
A Legend in College
Despite the fact Reese started playing poker in his childhood he wasn't attractive with the poker player's living style. He attended a college (Dartmouth College), but there he often preferred to play poker instead of going to classes.
He played with most of his professors, and he always won, but also he played with anyone who was willing to play against him. He was unbeatable and he became a legend. They changed the campus poker room's name to "The David E. Reese Memorial Card Room" when he graduated.
A Legend in Vegas
After he graduated he decided to work as a Manufacturer's representative. He worked there for a year, and he won $25.000 during that year. The money was good, but he decided to quit his job and went to Vegas with a friend, they both had $400. In the first night each doubled his sum, and it took Dave just a few days to win $60,000 in a tournament.
He became a legend in Vegas as well, and because of his young age he drew attention from the best players. Doyle Brunson said that Chip and Bobby Baldwin were the two finest young (under 30) all-around Poker players in the world.
Instincts and Analysis
Chip is currently living in poker and plays poker for a living. He won 2 WSOP bracelets in high stake games, and in 1991 he was inducted into Binion's Hall of Fame.
