Prior to poker, Lee Watkinson was a surfer and a wrestler, two sports that somewhat are helpful at the poker table. Trying to keep you balance on the waves is similar to trying to keep your balance at the table due to the constant changes that occur. Wrestling is helpful because of the aggression required, aggression which is also useful at the table, but aggression in betting of course.
Lee was named by Card Player magazine the Poker Player of the Year in 2004. His aggressive style helped him win over $1.5 millions and finish in money at 20 tournaments. The Hendon Mob's 2004 Money List of the Top 100 players ranked him on the 14th place.
Some of the in the money finish include: the 2005 WSOP in the $10,000 Championship Event of No Limit Hold'em where he finished 3rd (he won more than $138,000). At the e 2005 Bellagio Weekly Tournament in Las Vegas, in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event he finished 3rd. At the WPT at the 2004 Legends of Poker in the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles in the $5000 No Limit Hold'em Championship Final Day he finished in 2nd place, winning more than half a million dollars.
In 2004 at the Mirage Poker Showdown in Las Vegas at the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Final Day he finished on the 2nd place, again winning more than half a million dollars. In 2004 at the 35th WSOP in Las Vegas in the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event he finished in the 2nd place winning $270,000.
